Gulmarg
Gondola & snow slopes
Gulmarg — the 'Meadow of Flowers' — is the showpiece of Kashmir's mountains. In winter it becomes one of Asia's finest ski destinations; in summer it is a rolling green bowl rimmed by pine forest and snow peaks.
The star attraction is the Gulmarg Gondola, among the highest cable cars on Earth, lifting visitors towards the 4,200 m shoulder of Apharwat Peak for snow play, skiing and immense Himalayan views.
The Gondola & Apharwat
Phase 1 of the Gondola climbs to Kongdoori; Phase 2 continues toward Apharwat, where snow lingers well into summer. It is the easiest way for families to reach real high-altitude snow. We arrange early Srinagar departures so you reach the queue before the crowds and the afternoon clouds.
Ski, golf & gardens
Winter brings powder skiing, snowboarding and tobogganing with local instructors and gear on hire. Come summer, Gulmarg has the world's highest golf course, gentle nature walks to Khilanmarg, and the photogenic Maharani and Shiva temple overlooking the meadow.
